Board of Directors

Dr. Fernando Alcocer

President

Dr. Alcocer chose to serve on the Board of Directors because of Ambleside’s nurturing environment and Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and method, coupled with an incredible staff. He believes these have inspired his daughter’s intellectual and spiritual growth in such a fantastic experience, that he wanted to participate in the development of this institution, too.

Fernando and his wife, Carolina, are loving parents and dedicated internal medicine physicians at Shannon. They cherish their time with their two children. You can find them dancing in ballet class or experiencing new hobbies that San Angelo has to offer such as sailing, swimming, and fishing at Lake Nasworthy.

Mrs. Michelle Dolan-Rushing

Member

Michelle's professional background is in secondary education with a focus on Biology and Spanish. She is a Real Estate Broker, and she and her dad own M&M Ranch Land Investments/United Country Real Estate. Her hobbies are ranching and spending time with family.

Her son, Dolan, came to Ambleside from the public school setting in 7th grade, and is now a junior. The move had such a positive impact for Dolan and the entire family that they decided he would stay and graduate from Ambleside. Having been a teacher in public school, Michelle saw the benefits of the teaching method and philosophy that Charlotte Mason offered. She believes wholeheartedly in the school and hopes to make a positive difference for children by serving on the Board.

Dr. Jason Wall

Secretary

Dr. Jason Wall received his degree from Baylor College of Dentistry and has been practicing dentistry for over ten years. For the past five years, he has served as delegate to the Texas Dental Association.

Jason chose to serve on the Ambleside school board after seeing what a wonderful learning environment the school has been for his two young daughters. He brings his experience and knowledge as a business owner and community leader to the school board. His goal is to insure the level of excellence that has been created at Ambleside continues well into the future.
Jason and his wife, Michelle, have three children - Avery, Adley, and Lincoln. Outside of work, they enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and going to the lake.

Dr. Melissa Powell

Treasurer

As a hospitalist, Melissa Powell, MD provides care for adults requiring an inpatient hospital stay.  She has been a part of Shannon's hospitalist group since 2007.

She is honored to serve on the Ambleside School Board of Directors supporting our students and their teachers.  She appreciates and values the Charlotte Mason Method - especially the habits of full attention, best effort, and learning for the sake of learning.  She is repeatedly impressed by the students' artwork, classwork, and their caring attitudes for one another while embarking on school adventures.

Melissa and her husband, Grant, have 2 daughters - the younger started Pre-K at Ambleside and has been here ever since.  She loves and looks forward to every day of school. As a family, they enjoy travelling - whether it's a weekend road trip or an extended vacation to reconnect with friends and family.  They enjoy music festivals, chasing their goats, and making up funny songs together.

Dr. Caleb Vosburg

Vice President

Caleb Vosburg is an orthopaedic surgeon at Shannon Clinic. He has served on the Ambleside school board for many years in addition to leadership roles with the hospital and clinic. His three children attend Ambleside, and he wishes to help maintain the school as an excellent educational institution.  The teaching atmosphere is unique and should continue to serve his children and others for years to come.

He and his wife, Jill, spend the majority of their free time travelling for their kids' sporting events, participating in outdoor activities, and serving the community in various volunteer roles.
